Exciting News for Paint Box Cafe!

We are so excited to announce that the Paint Box Café is staying open! While the Durbin family will soon end their journey at the café, we will be handing over the reigns to the new owners. The Paint Box has been an amazing experience for Steve and I, as well as our three children. We are truly grateful for the love and support of all of our family, friends and each of you that we have met along the way. We are so happy that the story and life of the café doesn't have to end and want you to get to know the new owners, Dale and Patricia Mitchell. Please start by reading a note from Dale below and come in the café soon to introduce yourself and tell him what brings you to the Paint Box.  As for the Durbin's we'd love to see you for lunch in our last few days and hope to stay in touch!

Blessing to you all,
Heather, Steve, Laura, Wade and Bennett Durbin

A note from Dale:
Hello to all the Paint Box family!  I am Dale Mitchell and currently reside in Camdenton.  I was raised in western Kansas but came to Missouri in 1978 and have considered it home ever since.  I am a pastry chef and love the breads and pastries.  Patricia is my wonderful, lovely wife and is an RN at Lake Regional Hospital.

We are super excited about this opportunity to become part of the Paint Box Café family.  We have been working toward this for a number of months and are so glad to see it come to fruition.

There are, as you would assume, lots of things that we want to accomplish with the Paint Box, but we know a good thing when we see it and much of what you love about the café will NOT change.  As we progress through the next few weeks and months your input is desired and will be accepted with an open mind and you will be accepted with open arms.

I would also like to thank Heather and Steve for their patience during the long, tiring process of getting things in line for this to happen.

We will be taking possession of the Paint Box on March 1st, as there are a number of things we want to do prior to opening we will be closing the café for 2 weeks.  We will be having our Grand Re-opening on March 17th and would love to see each and every one of you then.
There will be some opportunities in the near future for you to get some free goodies at the grand re-opening so check back often.

Win a Holiday Dessert Tray by Paint Box Cafe and Help Those in Need!

We are super excited to partner with CADV-VOC (Citizens Against Domestic Violence - Victim Outreach Center) recognizing October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and offering you a great prize of FREE goodies!

All you have to do to enter the contest is donate some of the items that CADV desperately needs. During the remainder of October, we will be collecting items from CADV's much needed wish-list. When you bring your donated items to The Paint Box Café, you will be entered into our drawing. The winner will be drawn and announced the first week in November. The winner will receive a holiday tray loaded with a variety of yummy desserts specially created at the Paint Box Café. It will be perfect to share at your family's Thanksgiving gathering.

CADV's Wish-List:

Full Size bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner
Women's Shave Gel
Women's Razors
Bodywash
Toilet Paper
Paper Towels
Kleenex

While these items may seem simple and basic to you, they can mean a world of difference to the families being served by CADV. We at Paint Box Café, feel it is better to give than to receive. Please help us give to this wonderful organization serving our community. Together we can make a BIG impact with a small item!

Have I Got News For You!

Hello Paint Box Friends!  Just wanted to share some news with you - soon there will be a new "voice" on the blog: Heather Durbin, who just purchased The Paint Box Cafe, will be communicating with you in the future.  I'll be sharing more information in the next few weeks, but for now I'd like to highlight Heather's note of introduction with you.

"My husband Steve and I are so excited to announce that we are the proud new owners of The Paint Box Cafe. I have lived at the lake for 6 years and Steve, 10 years. We have been happily married since 2007 with two beautiful children and another on the way. The Lake community has held a special place in my heart since I was a child and I am excited to grow along with it.
I have served almost 6 years as the Outreach Coordinator at Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV), serving Lake Area victims of domestic and sexual violence. While it was hard to leave that wonderful organization, I am so excited to have this new opportunity. It’s just another way I get to bring joy to others and help feed their souls.
Baking and creating food for others has always been one of my most favorite ways to express my love and appreciation for those special people in my life, or to warm the heart of a stranger. My inspiration and pride in what I make comes from my mother, Donna and my late, Mama Carol.
We love the life Roxie has given to The Paint Box Café and are so excited to pick up where she left off. We will continue serving the same great food and desserts that you have grown to love, and will be adding new and yummy things for you to try. You will enjoy creating your meal with the same quality ingredients and freshly baked breads and desserts that you are used to. We hope that your time at Paint Box is not simply a meal, but an experience and an inspiration.
May you feel the love from our family to yours with every bite."
Blessings,
Heather Durbin

Thanks for your continued interest in the cafe.  It has been such an amazing experience, start to finish, for Blake, Brooke, and me.  We are excited for the Durbin family and we have complete confidence that they will make your experience there a special one, whether you are there weekly or only for those once-in-a-while visits to the lake.  Heather will be sharing more in the upcoming weeks!  If you will go to the Paint Box Cafe Facebook page and "like" it, you can receive regular updates.

Again, from the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate having had the pleasure to serve you these past 20 months.

Our Best to You Always,
Blake, Brooke, and Roxie Kelley
